Purpose: Meet your instructor and classmates, explore course expectations, and get inspired for your innovation journey!
2. Asynchronous Learning Period (3 Weeks)
Dates: Sunday, January 25 – Sunday, February 15, 2026
Format: Weekly paced modules with required activities and optional office hours for support and discussion.
3. Final Project (5 Weeks)
Focus: Demonstrate the impact of innovation-based instruction through lesson plans and/or evidence of classroom implementation.
Due Date: Sunday, March 22, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. (EST)

Overview: Innovation and entrepreneurship can be powerful tools for sparking curiosity and creativity in young learners. By centering instruction around students’ ideas, teachers can boost engagement, build confidence, and support stronger learning outcomes. Innovation-based instruction transforms the classroom into a joyful, collaborative space where both students and teachers learn, explore, and grow together.
In this course, you’ll discover how to nurture your students’ natural inventiveness through innovation-based instruction—the next evolution of project-based learning. You’ll learn how to use innovation prompts to inspire problem-solving, creativity, and real-world thinking in your classroom. This simple yet powerful approach helps children see themselves as creators and changemakers, laying the foundation for lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.
 In this course you can expect to:
•	Learn about the power of innovation and entrepreneurship to engage all learners while addressing a variety of K–5 science and ELA standards,
•	Understand how to apply the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation in the elementary classroom,
•	Create and apply innovation prompts as a tool to foster student engagement,
•	Apply innovation as a methodology to incorporate student ideas into the classroom lessons, and
•	Gain access to free innovation-based instructional resources, including a library of ready-made innovation prompts.
The tools and techniques shared in this course are designed specifically for K–5 classrooms and can be seamlessly integrated into existing curriculum without the need for additional materials or supplies. This course qualifies for 10 h of CTLE credit.
